AVA's CONCERNS
Our team has reached out to AVA regarding the feasibility of bring entomophagy into Singapore and they have raised several issues.
Hygiene conditions in the farming, transport and processing of insects
POSSIBLE BIOACCUMULATION OF PLANT/FEED TOXIN IN INSECTS
inherent toxicity of insect species
POTENTIAL ALLERGENIC RESPONSES IN SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS
presence of parasites in insects
HOWEVER...
if the importer is able to produce sufficient information for AVA to conduct a safety review, entomophagy may still be considered.
INFORMATION SUCH AS:

Licensing of insect farming establishments in the country of origin
Safety assessments on the production of farmed insects conducted and verified by a third party, a state regulator
Evidence demonstrating a long history of safe consumption of particular insect species
